Worship & The Arts
Worship & The Arts Committee
The Worship & Arts Committee is composed of Elders, Musicians, and Congregant members, to get a broad view of worship. Within this committee, we explore new options for music, liturgy, and other matters. We are keenly interested in what the congregation values in their worshipping experience. The sub-groups of this committee are the Adult Choir, and The Presbytones (Bell Choir).
Adult Choir
At Springfield Presbyterian Church, we have a wonderful adult choir singing in four parts on most Sunday mornings during the church year. We are open to people of all levels of ability and enjoy welcoming new members. Practices are Wednesday evenings from 7:30 - 8:45 pm and Sunday mornings before we sing in the service. We practice and participate in services most Sundays each month from September through the beginning of June.
The Presbytones [Bell Choir]
Springfield has 5 octaves of Schulmerich Handbells, 5 octaves of Malmark Chimes and one octave of Malmark Cymbells. Our bell choir plays music that is mostly level 2 to 3. Our group is intergenerational and we usually play for services four or five times between September and June. We practice on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 - 7:15 pm (just before the adult choir practices... so it's easy to be in both groups!)
