Mission & Outreach

The Mission & Outreach Team

The Mission & Outreach Team works to embody our mission out into the community and beyond. Through this committee, we make sure our sub-group ministries are getting the help and assistance they need. We are also developing new 'monthly missions' to educate and assist important needs in our community.

This Team also supports the following ministries:

Notes/cards of support and encouragement, for the clients and staff, are always appreciated and will be delivered with the donated items.

HeadHuggers

Headhuggers is a ministry developed by one of our congregants to address the needs for prayer shawls and hats to warm and comfort the community. Through her own talent of knitting, she called together other congregants and community members who have a desire to serve through knitting and crochet. It is a ministry that is also an educational ministry - so if you do not know how to knit or crochet, we are happy to help!

You can find our prayer shawls, baby blankets, and other goods in places like Dove House Hospice, local hospitals, and the Women and Children's Shelter of Westminster.

Feed My Sheep

Feed My Sheep is a ministry of a local congregation, Wesley Freedom UMC, and we participate in their mission by providing meals once a month to those who attend their fellowship hall. We serve a meal, have conversation, and contribute to this ministry for the larger community.

Baltimore Dakota Mission

On March 11th, Springfield Presbyterian Church hosted a viewing of the movie Neither Wolf nor Dog.  The movie was attended by 31 people from 5 different Baltimore Presbytery churches.  A free will offering of $757 was collected.  This money will be used by the Baltimore Dakota Learning Camps to fund their mission.  This movie is used by the Learning Camps for cultural sensitivity training of their staff members.  After the movie, a reception was held in our fellowship area and featured chili made with free-range buffalo meat, a vegetarian chowder and light dessert.  Discussion about the movie was held during the reception.  To learn more about the mission, please visit:  baltimoredakotalearningcamps.org

We will be holding three camps this summer and are looking for volunteer staff.  We have funds to help defray the costs.  Applications need to be in by April 1st.
